How to Start Your Own Successful Podcast: A Beginner's Guide.

Do You Want To Be A Podcaster?

Have you been thinking about starting your podcast show? If the answer is “Yes” here is why you should get started and what you need to get to work. The on-demand audio industry is still relatively new and is projected to reach $94.88 billion by 2028. More and more people are establishing their brands by podcasting because it works! Listeners enjoy podcasts while they are at home cleaning, walking, or traveling. Here are a few things to consider:

Decide on your show genre.

You want to pick a category you can commit to. You want to enjoy the work you are creating so pick a topic you can discuss effortlessly. Once you decide on a topic, picking a show name will come easily to you.

Get recording equipment.

This is a big one! Investing in the right equipment to provide your listeners with a great experience is important; however, breaking the bank is never a good idea. Podcasting is a long game so starting small and upgrading your equipment over time is ideal. Some of my favorite digital audio workstations for podcasting are Audacity and ProTools. Set up a podcast website.

Creating a website for your podcast is an amazing way to monetize your show notes. You can add affiliate links and create blog posts for your podcast episodes. Create the website and let the content work for you. On your website, you can provide a transcript for each episode, allowing more people to discover you. Create your website, it’s worth it.

Decide on a podcast distributor.

It may not seem like a big deal initially, but storage and bandwidth limits are something to consider when setting your show up on a podcast hosting platform. Remember this is a long game. You want to find an affordable platform that will allow you to publish as many episodes as you want.

It is also important to look into a platform that allows you to view your analytics. Reviewing your data will show you who is listening and what content is resonating with your audience. Some platforms provide your stats for free and others require additional payments. Choose wisely.

Creating your place in the audio space is very important and worth the effort. Allowing people to get to know you and hear your thoughts is a great way to build your brand.
